Fruit Beer. The Debate Is out.

breweries in nh

Fruit and beer – it’s a hot topic with a hard line. As the number one bar in Manchester, our team at Stark Brewery has heard both sides. Whether your love fruit in your beer or want nothing to do with it, fruity beer is here to stay. In fact, the ‘trend’ dates back to the early 1900s! Because of its rich history, we think it only appropriate to take a moment to honor the history of fruit beer.

Taking a look back in time.

As we mentioned, some of the earliest documentation of fruit beer dates back to the early 1900s. However, fruit beer was a bit different then. Instead of infusing fresh fruit into the brew, people simply mixed fruit juice into their beer. The two most common mixers were orange juice and freshly squeezed lemonade.

While this may sound a bit odd, if you think about some of the most popular fruit beers of today, it’s truly the beginning of something beautiful. For example, come summer, there is nothing quite like the refreshing sip of a lemon shandy to cool the soul. Bet you never thought of it that way.

The possibilities are truly endless.

If you’re a fan of fruit beer, today is your day. While history provided beer lovers with only a few options, today, you have hundreds. Some of the most commonly infused fruits include blueberry, raspberry, lemon, and lime. However, some brewers get a bit creative with other items like bananas, apples, and even grapefruit.

We visited on our travels, what an Amazing find!!! The food was delicious and the services was friendly. The owner even came over to chat and check in. They offered water and a treat for our service dog. The food was cooked to perfection. Tasty and well priced. The Puppy Pilsner was very good.
