Last month, Emily Goulet from Granite State Ambassadors took the time to sit with Peter Telge. As the founder and owner of the second NH brewery and first operating brewpub, one can imagine the experiences Peter has to share! If you missed the interview, we’re highlighting a few key points here!
NH Brewery history
Originating in 1994, the history of Stark Brewing Company is almost as intriguing as Stark beer itself. Formerly known as the Stark Mill Brewery, the company was brought to life through the efforts of Queen City native Brewmaster Peter Telge. Later, the brewery would reopen as Milly’s Tavern, and again transform to Stark Brewing Company.
A little about the brand
If you’re familiar with the brand, you’ve probably guessed that Peter has a love for German Shepherds. So much so that the Stark logo was designed after his first Shepherd, Tasha. As an inspiration for Peter, Tasha’s Red Pale Ale was crafted and quickly became a staple for the company. From there, every label and name followed the same suit. From Millie’s Oatmeal Stout to Bo’s Scotch Ale, many of the carefully crafted brews have gone on to win several gold medals in various world competitions!
Because of our love for animals, we’re proud to support foundations like Paws of Peace and The Animal Rescue League. But we don’t stop there – at Stark Brewing, we support and host several local charities, including Families in Transition, Manchester’s Little League Foundation as well as several cancer foundations. From charity nights to sponsorship, we’re proud to give back to the community that made us who we are today.
Keeping up with the times
To keep up with customer’s demands, Peter brought Stark Brewing to new heights by becoming the first NH brewery/distillery in the state. With a taste for only the finest liquors, Peter combines his expectations with the desires of connoisseurs to craft the highest quality, smoothest liquors in the region.
