Winter is nearly upon us, so what better way to warm up than with a nice cold beer? There’s really nothing quite like spending a cold evening in a cozy bar at one of your favorite NH breweries with a beer in your hand, enjoying the company of friends and loved ones. If that sounds like a great night out to you, come over to Stark Brewing Company and see what we have on tap.
Like many breweries in NH, we always have rotating seasonal on offer, but there are plenty of favorites that we always have on hand. Here are some beer styles that are sure to warm you up on a chilly night.
Imperial Stout
We’ve broken down the different types of stout before, and Imperial stout is the strongest variety. Brewed at the request of Russian royalty, Imperial stout has an intense, rich, and complex flavor. Malty with notes of coffee and chocolate, if you have a glass of Imperial stout in your hand, you’ll never want to step outside again. And that’s not just because of the high ABV! Stark’s take on this brew is our IMP Stout.
Porter
Porter is similar to stout. Stouts started out as a stronger version of porter, after all, before they took on a life of their own. Flavor-wise, you’ll also find notes of coffee and chocolate, though in porter the chocolate flavor has the upper hand over coffee. In stouts, coffee usually takes prominence.
Milk Stout
If you like your beer a little sweeter, try a milk stout. With a creamy mouthfeel and a deep, black color, milk stout tends to have a low ABV, making it the perfect drink to finish off a winter meal. But not everyone likes a sweet beer. For a similar experience without the sweetness, give our Millie’s Oatmeal Stout a try.
Hazy IPA
Even in the winter, some beer drinkers prefer crisper, hoppier fare. Toeing the line between refreshing and cozy is the hazy IPA. Also called the New England IPA, its juicy flavor and silky texture pair perfectly with a night in hiding from winter weather.
