While the weather outside may be frightful, we can guarantee that the soups we serve at Stark Brewing won’t be! This month is National Soup Month, and our team wanted to highlight some of the soups on our menu and some history behind them! From our signature brews to our delectable soups, it’s no wonder why many consider us to be one of the best restaurants in Manchester!
French Onion Soup
As the name suggests, French Onion Soup is a French recipe. Onion soup has been around for thousands of years. In fact, it dates back to Roman times. However, the modern version of this recipe is said to have popped up in Paris around the 18th century. Throughout history, the dish has been seen as being something that poor french folk would make. This was because onions grew plentiful in France, so it was not much for them to make and eat, along with some beef broth.
Beef Stew
Some of the first evidence of strew existing was found in Japan during the Jōmon period. Since then, there have been thousands of different variations of stews. In addition to beef stew, there is also pork, poultry, sausages, lamb, and even seafood. At Stark Brewing, our classic beef stew is made with beef and an assortment of fresh vegetables, slow-cooked along with our Oatmeal Stout.
Oatmeal Stout Chili
It is said that chili may actually have roots in the American West, particularly the State of Texas. A legend says that immigrants from the Canary Islands got the recipe when they settled in San Antonio during the 1700s. At Stark Brewing, we make our chili without original Oatmeal stout and serve it with a side of tortilla chips. We are also proud to say that this recipe for our chili was voted “Best of NH.”
Today’s Soups
Along with the soups mentioned above, we also serve a soup of the day that is housemade every day. There is just no way of knowing what our talented chef will whip up next, you will have to come in and see it for yourself!
